CHARACTERS HISTORY:
William Hollad was born on Earth, but his family moved to Mars when his father, James Hollad, was promoted from Captain to Admiral and given a position at the Utopia Planitia fleetyards. His father is still currently in Starfleet and has since transferred back to Starfleet Command in San Francisco. Will's mother, Sarah Hollad, is not in Starfleet, but owns several Restaurants in and around San Francisco.

Will was able to get into Starfleet Academy at age 17. He started off training as an engineer, but during that developed a bigger passion for piloting, and as a result he graduated the academy as a qualified engineer, but an even more qualified pilot. A couple of months after graduating he accepted a posting on the USS Sovereign, as a junior engineer. But he spoke to the captain and received a few shift at the helm each week. He realised that he enjoyed the helm more than engineering, so he formally transferred to the red of the command/flight department as an assistant flight officer. Unfortunately for him, this meant mostly night shifts, but he coped and even enjoyed it.

As he was originally an engineer, Will still has a keen interest in how things work, and in his quarters he has a number of dismantled devices, old and new, such as phasers, tricorders, etc. He likes modifying things, and so he has his own personal hand phaser that, in his opinion, looks and works better. Whenever he goes on away missions, he takes his own phaser with him. He also has made his own changes to the layout of the helm console which he uses whenever he is on duty. He has a number of Holodeck programs of various ship designs, mostly shuttles and runabouts, which he uses just to practice his piloting skills.

He is a good person, in terms of personality. He is always happy to attend gatherings on the ship, whether it be a formal reception for a visiting dignitary or just a social occasion for the crew. He is lucky that some of his friends from the academy were posted to the Sovereign with him, and he also knows a few people who are already on the Oberon.
